Care Instructions

Wash at up to 60 degrees on a regular cycle (avoid “eco” or longer cycles).
Never soak for longer than 10 minutes and avoid using Vanish and other whitening products.
Tumble dry at 70 degrees for a soft effect, and 90 degrees for a more crushed finish.
We don't recommend ironing the full napkin in order to keep the linen’s lovely crumpled texture intact, but we do like to iron the edges to give it a sharper edge.

About Us

Founded by June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, two great friends with a truly effortless and unique sense of style, Summerill & Bishop first opened its doors on 18th May, 1994 in Holland Park, and has remained on the same quiet, leafy corner of Clarendon Cross ever since.

Fantastic home cooks and entertainers both, June and Bernadette were frustrated with the offerings at most kitchen and tableware shops at the time, and with the lack of personality and intimacy, so they decided to create one of their own, where beauty and functionality would both be key.

To commemorate Bernadette's passing, S&B trademarked her signature flower design and designed a beautiful line of linens which launched in Sept 2015. And that is how S&B decided to focus on table linen - the fabric of life.

At Summerill & Bishop we believe that if people take the time to lay the table and present a meal beautifully, they'll enjoy it all the more and create a lasting memory for those who share it with them.

For us, laying the table is an art form that we can all master at home and is one of the simplest ways to tell someone what they mean to you. The table isn't just a place to pass food, you pass tradition, memory, and love, too. Read our full story here...

The story

The more people there were around the table, the happier our co-founder Bernadette—the meals she prepared for friends were typified by the kind of inspired effortlessness that’s totally unforgettable. Designed here in our Notting Hill studio, we were inspired by the flower she often signed letters with. The first of our in-house designed tablecloth, we thought it a perfect way to both commemorate Bernadette and begin a new phase in Summerill & Bishop’s history. With this sophisticated piece, Bernadette always has a seat at our table.
Like all the napkins from this collection, it’s made of 100% fine Italian linen and has a slightly crushed and soft texture, which makes it wonderfully versatile. Hand stamped in a centuries-old, family run stamperia in Italy, these linens are equally at home in a casual, outdoor setting as they are as part of a more formal, indoor tabletop.
