Lacework has long been considered one of the most emotionally resonant of fabrics. It rouses reverie of some of life's most important moments; a wedding, a religious gathering, celebrations of life, mealtimes at the table. Its ability to carry and convey emotion oft feels woven into its very structure.

Today, we introduce 'Lyon Lace' the second design from our exclusive Couture Collection of tablecloths. This fine lace tablecloth is soft to the touch and exquisite to the eye. Created in France on one of the last remaining 'Lyon' lace looms, normally the reserve of couture fashion houses and luxury lingerie designers.

We hope to reignite an appreciation and love of lace, in the way that we did with the humble linen tablecloth, many years ago. Together, with our specialist atelier in France, we've created a beautiful rendition of what was once considered an 'old-fashioned' item. Taking something special from another time and making it feel modern and useable for now. The design reflects an artisanal nature, timeless beauty, consciousness and slow construction.

Each lace tablecloth is woven individually on these decades old looms and then corded and finished by hand, making no two exactly the same. A table covering for the person looking for the very best and the unique.

To create this quality of lace in a width for a table, is something that only a handful of ateliers in the world have the ability to do. Making these pieces collector's items and an investment in a future heirloom.

Each tablecloth is sold with eight beautiful white linen napkins embellished with a lace trim in two corners. The collection is available in limited numbers in store now and will also be available on a bespoke made to order basis.

We're proud to support such talented artisans in finding new avenues for their craft and in a small way, to help keep these traditional techniques alive.
