To celebrate Blackberry Farm’s 50th anniversary, we are honoured to have created a special-edition linen design for this remarkable milestone. Today, Seb Bishop, our CEO and Creative Director, shares the story and sentiment woven into Lenten Rose...

During my visit to Blackberry Farm, I found myself completely immersed in the spirit of the property; wandering through the Garden and Farmstead, discovering the stories held within its landscape and experiencing the traditions, care and connection that have shaped life at the Farm. I was deeply touched by the profound sense of family, heritage and belonging that lives throughout the property; a legacy lovingly nurtured by the Beall family, whose devotion continues to bring this extraordinary place to life.

The Summerill & Bishop x Blackberry Farm Collection was born from a shared appreciation for custodianship; from generosity, gracious hospitality and the belief that the most meaningful legacies are those built through love, care and the passing down of traditions.

At the heart of our bespoke design are trailing Lenten roses, one of the Beall family’s beloved flowers, found blooming throughout the Farm, intertwined with delicate pea pods inspired by Andy Saftel’s painting, Sam’s Time, which hangs at Blackberry Farm. Each of the five peas nestled within the pod is a gentle tribute to Sam and Mary Celeste Beall’s five children, honouring the family story at the very heart of this beautiful place.

Though Sam is no longer physically seated at the table, his presence continues to be felt throughout Blackberry Farm. His legacy endures through the passion he cultivated, the wisdom he shared and the traditions that carry his influence forward. His spirit remains woven into every gathering, every shared meal, and every moment around the table, ensuring that he is, in many ways, still part of those cherished conversations.

Lenten Rose is a celebration of legacy, family and the enduring beauty of a place cared for with love across generations. It is available exclusively from Blackberry Farm.
