How to Set the Perfect Easter Table

How to Set the Perfect Easter Table

At S&B, we believe the essence of Easter can be derived into three things; being surrounded by family and friends, lapping up the sunshine (hopefully) and enjoying delicious food. As we emerge from the cold depths of winter, we crave the sense of light, laughter and togetherness which this celebration is all about.

However, before all the fun begins, you need a beautiful table to set the scene. So, find our step-by-step guide where we explore everything you need to set the perfect Easter table, from the tablecloth to the cutlery, to the finishing touches of floristry.

Our Six Simple Steps for Creating the Perfect Tablescape

Choosing a Theme

Whilst we know the overarching theme is Easter, we invite you to consider what style you would choose to suit your occasion. Are you after a formal table setting, touching on a more traditional, refined aesthetic? Or is Easter for you about embracing fun and bright colours, perhaps playing with a variety of different prints and patterns? We believe the most beautiful table settings balance harmoniously with their surroundings. Before choosing a theme, we always contemplate the environment which encircles the table. Whether your table will sit inside or outside is the first question we ask ourselves. An indoor tablescape might spur you to focus on florals to bring the start of the new season inside. An outdoor setting may prompt you to accentuate the nature around you, opting for soft, muted tones to showcase spring as the centrepiece. Next, think about who will sit at your table. A more mature gathering may have you choosing a refined and elegant look, using understated tones and table accessories. However, if your celebration brings together all ages, perhaps with a particular focus on younger guests, bright and playful prints will help create a more fun and youthful atmosphere.

Choosing the Tablecloth

Tablecloths are the very essence of everything we do here at S&B. We like to consider them as the canvas of your table setting. Our beautiful range of linen is varied enough to suit every aesthetic, from minimalist to maximalist, to neutral to bold, and from plain to patterned. We’re proud to offer a floral tablecloth for every season. Each linen is meticulously designed to perfectly pair with matching floristry. So, when mimosa, tulips or roses begin to bloom, all you need to do to create a beautiful table is lay the linen and arrange the flowers. After selecting the specific Easter theme you’re after, choosing your table linen should (we hope!) be a little easier. Have a browse through our suggestions below for some guidance.

Selecting the Dinnerware

When selecting the dinnerware, consider the style and colour palette of your Easter table. For a refined setting, you may look towards neutral dinnerware, such as the S&B Porcelain Dinner Set or Crésus Dinner Set by Astier de Villatte. If you’re embracing the soft pastels of the season, S&B ‘Brushed’ Ceramic Dinnerware in Pastel Pink, Season Green, or Yellow pair beautifully with both patterned and plain linens alike. Experiment with complementary and contrasting tones and don’t shy away from mixing and matching different patterns and textures – the more you experiment, the more personal your tablescape will feel!

Adding Glassware

Glassware is essential to your Easter tablescape, and the right glassware can really elevate any table setting. Opt for crystal-clear glasses to showcase the flourishing florals of springtime. Or perhaps you’re looking to compliment the pastel shades of your table linen with coloured glassware. Ensure you have enough glassware for every course; we always lay our tables with water glasses, wine glasses and champagne flutes (of course)!

Layering with Linens

No Easter table is complete without napkins. Our table linen collections all offer matching napkins which create a coordinated and sophisticated look. Experiment with Easter shades - we love complementing our linen napkins with the pastel tones of the season; lemon yellow and avocado green to harmonise with the blooming daffodils, or crisp white and crimson to accentuate the flourishing tulips. Paying homage to the nature which blesses us at this time of year will never fail to look beautiful.

To add a playful element to your Easter tablescape, try folding the napkin creatively. A few simple folds and flips creates fun Easter bunny ears, certain to bring smiles to your guests’ faces.

Don’t Forget the Cutlery

Cutlery may not be the focal point of the table, but that doesn’t mean it should be overlooked. Beautiful cutlery to complement your linen and dinnerware creates a harmonious balance to each table setting. For a simple yet sophisticated set, opt for our S&B 7 Piece Cutlery Set in Stainless Steel. However, if you’re looking to add some colour, we love the Ravel Faux Rose Quartz & Stainless Steel Cutlery Set & Stainless-Steel Cutlery Set by Alain Saint–Joanis. Always ensure you have the correct cutlery for every course you will serve.

Finishing Touches

Whilst you can never go wrong with beautiful base, we believe it truly is the final touches which make your Easter table setting special.

Adding Florals

At S&B, no tablescape is complete without flowers, especially at Eastertime! Whilst the tablelinen and tableware set the tone for the table, fresh flowers truly bring the scene to life. Easter florals signal the seasonal shift away from the dormancy of winter into the hopeful start of spring, a feeling we all look forward to embracing!

Perhaps you would like to showcase the flowers of the season – think daffodils, lily of the valley, irises and tulips – as the focal point of your table. Let the florals sing with a muted yet intricate centrepiece vase from Astier de Villatte, such as the Marguerite Vase or Rocaille Vase. Or perhaps you would prefer to embellish your table with a series of small bud vases, each hosting a delicate bouquet of daisies, lilies and peonies, scattered down the middle of the table.

Accessorise the Table

Bring some depth and dimension to your tablescape with candlesticks, coasters and carafes. Coloured candles in pastel shades can be used to create a contrasting look to your linen and dinnerware. Try playing around with different heights to add an interesting visual element but always ensure to keep your accessories low enough so guests can see and talk to each other.Fill any awkward gaps in the table with bowls and platters in soft, Easter shades, either to serve food, or simply for some added decoration. We love to fill ours with some chocolate eggs for a little Easter treat - always sure to bring a smile to everyone’s faces!

The table should look beautiful, but it’s not the only element that will make your Easter meal special. After all, it’s the atmosphere you create, the playlist you put on, and the people you love who truly make an event one to remember. So don’t overthink it, don’t be afraid to add personal touches and don’t shy away from going with the pieces which speak to you. The Easter table is all about coming together and connections, celebrating fresh starts and exciting new beginnings. Your company triumphs all, so remember to enjoy it, and be sure to live every loving laughter of the occasion. Happy Easter!

Let the celebrations commence!
