The Garden of Earthly Delights

Just last week, we travelled to America to co-host something rather special with our brilliant friend Blake and the talented team at Wentworth. In a private Charleston home and garden, beneath the shifting light of the day, we were welcomed for an installation alongside friends old and new to showcase an edit of our collections.

Inspired by Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights, our collections unfolded both indoors and out, in a series of tables imagined by Blake, all dispersed throughout this beautiful home and garden, each one with its own rhythm. From room to room and out beneath the trees, guests were invited on a journey of discovery, encountering different expressions of Summerill & Bishop along the way.

Rooted in the kitchen and garden, our linens were experienced as they are meant to be: in motion, amongst people, outdoors where sunlight casts its shadow.

For a few hours, phones stayed tucked away a little longer, brought out only to take a photo or two. Conversations stretched without interruption. The usual instinct to think ahead, to the next message or obligation, the next thing waiting to be answered, dulled. The afternoon reminded us how rare it is to be fully present, and how restorative it can feel to simply sit together under the trees, talking, with nowhere else to be.

It was a celebration not only of linens and tablescapes, but of attention itself: the art of gathering slowly, beautifully and without hurry. The day truly became a reminder of something simple and increasingly rare: the pleasure of being exactly where you are.
