About Us

Founded by the late June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, two great friends with a truly effortless and unique sense of style, Summerill & Bishop first opened its doors on 18th May, 1994 in Holland Park, and has remained on the same quiet, leafy corner of Clarendon Cross ever since.

Fantastic home cooks and entertainers both, June and Bernadette were frustrated with the offerings at most kitchen and tableware shops at the time, and with the lack of personality and intimacy, so they decided to create one of their own, where beauty and functionality would both be key.

At Summerill & Bishop we believe that if people take the time to lay the table and present a meal beautifully, they'll enjoy it all the more and create a lasting memory for those who share it with them.

For us, laying the table is an art form that we can all master at home and is one of the simplest ways to tell someone what they mean to you. The table isn't just a place to pass food, you pass tradition, memory, and love, too. Read our full story here...

The story

We explore the world over to seek out the most imaginative and talented artisans, whose designs are practical, picture-perfect and are of the highest quality. This hand-woven collection is created by artisans in South America, with a focus on combining traditional techniques passed down the generations, with a modern design sensibility. Their collections celebrate craftsmanship and creativity in abundance - each design is woven by hand using organic materials and derives much of its inspiration from an appreciation of beauty in the natural world.
A beautiful nod to the natural with organic shades and textures aplenty, we hope each design is a source of much joy when you come to lay your table.
