Founded by the late June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, two great friends with a truly effortless and unique sense of style, Summerill & Bishop first opened its doors on 18th May, 1994 in Holland Park, and has remained on the same quiet, leafy corner of Clarendon Cross ever since.

Fantastic home cooks and entertainers both, June and Bernadette were frustrated with the offerings at most kitchen and tableware shops at the time, and with the lack of personality and intimacy, so they decided to create one of their own, where beauty and functionality would both be key.

At Summerill & Bishop we believe that if people take the time to lay the table and present a meal beautifully, they'll enjoy it all the more and create a lasting memory for those who share it with them.

The story

The ‘Our June’ collection is a tribute to our late co-founder June Summerill; her eye, her instinct, and her unwavering belief that the things we live with every day should be both useful and deeply beautiful.
She knew a table was never just a table, but a place where life unfolds. Her touch was instinctive; natural textures, softened tones, pieces that felt as though they had always belonged.

At the heart of this collection is a garden of wildflowers: Meadow Fleabane, Iris, Mariposa, Daisy, Wild Hyacinth, Perennial Phlox, Saltmarsh Rosegentian, Fireweed, Lemon Columbine, and the Mariposa Lily. Each flower is chosen not for grandeur, but for feeling; together, they form a landscape that feels both personal and timeless.

This collection reflects her spirit. There is a gentleness to it, but also a sense of purpose. Objects designed not to sit untouched, but to be folded into daily rituals. Linen that invites use, that softens and tells its own story over time. Colours that echo her love of the understated: chalk, petal, light and earth.
