A new classic for the table – discover L’Olivier, the ultimate summer linen napkin.

Olive branches, full and fruitful, fall around the edges of this design, in lush and leafy shades of green. A timeless look for the table, that will look fresh season after season.

No matter where you saw your first olive tree, their beauty, that animates the landscape with silvery canopies and sculptural trunks, inspires memories of warmth and happiness – a shorthand for summer joy. Since antiquity, the olive tree has offered generously to cuisine, wellbeing and healing and continues to do so. This design will frame many happy moments and meals alfresco for the summers now and to come.

Printed on 100% pure French linen. Matching tablecloth available.

A little message about our printed linens…
Linen is much loved for its natural and irregular look. We’ve developed techniques in our manufacturing process to relax and soften the textured surface of the fabric, meaning your tablecloth and napkins may feature some small white spots and areas of fading on its printed surface. These irregularities are normal and make each item entirely unique.

    Our Story

Founded by June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, two great friends with a truly effortless and unique sense of style, Summerill & Bishop first opened its doors on 18th May, 1994 in Holland Park, and has remained on the same quiet, leafy corner of Clarendon Cross ever since.

Fantastic home cooks and entertainers both, June and Bernadette were frustrated with the offerings at most kitchen and tableware shops at the time, and with the lack of personality and intimacy, so they decided to create one of their own, where beauty and functionality would both be key.

To commemorate Bernadette's passing, S&B trademarked her signature flower design and designed a beautiful line of linens which launched in Sept 2015. And that is how S&B decided to focus on table linen - the fabric of life.

At Summerill & Bishop we believe that if people take the time to lay the table and present a meal beautifully, they'll enjoy it all the more and create a lasting memory for those who share it with them.

For us, laying the table is an art form that we can all master at home and is one of the simplest ways to tell someone what they mean to you. The table isn't just a place to pass food, you pass tradition, memory, and love, too. Read our full story here...

    Care Instructions
Wash at up to 60 degrees on a regular cycle (avoid “eco” or longer cycles).
Never soak for longer than 10 minutes and avoid using Vanish and other whitening products.
Tumble dry at 70 degrees for a soft effect, and 90 degrees for a more crushed finish.
We don't recommend ironing the full napkin in order to keep the linen’s lovely crumpled texture intact, but we do like to iron the edges to give it a sharper edge.
    50cm x 50cm / 20 x 20 In.

    The Story

The image of the olive tree has always proved rich in inspiration for us, evoking ideals of summertime and of leisurely lunches alfresco. A living emblem of peace and enduring friendship, the olive tree was particularly favoured by our founders, June and Bernadette, who planted one outside of the S&B shop in Notting Hill almost thirty years ago. The tree stands proud to this day and is a testament to the friendship between the two women who started the S&B story.
