Luck Be A Lady

Start the new season with our exclusive new collection by 1690 Store, of four handcrafted ceramics: terracotta forms dressed in white slip, washed in our signature avocado green and drawn over by hand with ceramic pencils. Each one is an object with a story to tell and rather good company for the season ahead...

Inspired by 19th-century faience pottery and the deliciously theatrical world of 18th-century French playing cards, figures bearing a billet doux, a love letter, appear throughout. Roses tumble from garden urns, while a tiny four-leaved clover hides amongst the decoration, just in case you need a little luck.

The generous, organic forms sit somewhere between sculpture and vessel, while the marks, quirks and subtle variations of the handmade surface reveal the maker’s hand.
